So I lost the internet for a few days there, but have no fear I’m back and I’m ready to kick some serious ass. If you haven’t been reading these, which I’m not really sure who would have been at this point, let me take a second to catch you up to speed. I set a goal awhile back, and a pretty easy goal at that. All I have to do is make some money, any amount at that, by August 23rd, a whopping 12 days from now. Still haven’t achieved it, but for the love of God, and moreso the love of not having to go back to working at Subway, I WILL make this happen. I have come to the realization that I’m gonna need a little help, some guidance I suppose, to reach my goal.
Check back in a day or two, I’m checking out a solution that I should be able to report back on soon.
So I asked what the margins were like on this affiliae marketing stuff, and I’m finally starting to figure it out. I found that most big companies online now have some type of affiliate program, so I thought I would go straight to the top to look.
Amazon.com has a progam for people to help sell its stuff, and the commission rate you get is a measly 4% of each sale. I obviously don’t know for sure yet, bu this sounds pretty bad to me, hink about it. I’m gonna start a website dedicated to my all time favorite game, Call of Duty 4, and sell the game on my website through amazon. The game costs $47 on Amazon. So someone goes to my website, buys the game, and I get 4% of that $47, which turns out to be a whopping $1.87. Doesn’t realy sound too worth it to me. There’s gotta be a better program out there right?

Definitely didn’t realize when I posted two days ago that it was August already. That means I’ve only got three weeks left to make some cash..this is gonna start getting intense. Gotta make it happen though, what’s the point of setting goals if you’re not gonna push through to get that shit?
Seriously, this stuff is out of control. I’m starting to believe a few of these guys claiming to make the really, really, really big bucks. Affiliate marketing goes so much deeper than I ever thought, with so many crazy ideas and ways of doing things, I’d be surprised if there weren’t people makign huge money with this. Here’s my latest findings. I wrote about my initial thoughts on aff marketing awhile back, how someone could probably really bank off of it if they could get a bunch of people to their website that was advertising an affiliate product. Well I figured out hwo they do it now after reading plenty on the subject. But of course, there is a catch to it. Nothing overwhelming, just hear me out on it.
So apparently what these guys are doing is advertising their websites to sell stuff on other people’s websites.. kind of a funny little circle I guess but how else would you get a bunch of people to your website? Here’s the kicker though, they don’t just advertise on any websites, they advertise on search engines. Go to google real quick, search for anything at all, and check out the sidebar on the right side of the page. See the advertisers? Interesting idea, who would have thought of this?
Its genious though, because this way you probably get to choose what search terms your ad pops up for, making it only go to an audience who’s really interested in your stuff. Seriously, genious.
And of course the catch I just mentioned… apparently this form of advertising is not cheap. They pay in the form of clicks, so every time you click on one of those ads someone gets charged for it, so they hope in turn you go to their website and buy something. That’s where the name comes from, its called Pay Per Click or PPC for short. Basically, the very simplified version is that You pay to get on the search engines when someone clicks your ad, and hopefully they pay for something on your site so you can pay for the click when you get money from the affiliate program.
I wonder what the margins are on something like this?

Wow, that Digitalpoint place is nuts, I’m defintiely on information overload right now. I really can’t even comprehend it all, still trying to learn the “lingo” and all. And on top of that, apparently people really are banking off affiliate marketing because they’ve got a whole section on there about it with people claiming to make thousands a day. Wonder if that could be true?
Regardless of whether thats where the internet moniez is at or not, its apparently a lot more in depth and technical than I made it out to be previously. Not a big deal, just means I’m gonna have to work my ass off for awhile. Would probably help if I had some real computer knowledge too, hopefully I’ll just pick it up along the way though. But yeah if you didn’t check out any of the stuff on digitalpoint yet, I can tell you that affiliate marketing opens up a whole new world of opportunites. This is definitely what I’m gonna try and focus on.
